Attacker reveals transfer offer from Liverpool in interview

Ex-Schalke attacker Donis Avdijaj has lift the lid over transfer offers he received a couple of years ago and he has revealed that Liverpool were one of the big clubs who were pursuing him.

The young midfielder is currently plying his trade in the Dutch top flight with Eredivisie side Willem II, after choosing to leave Schalke on free transfer during the summer to find more chances of first team football.

Avdijaj’s name might not be so easily recognizable at the moment, but about three to four years ago, he was considered as one of the hottest young talents around as several big clubs attempted to pounce on his signature.

The 22-year-old has revealed in an interview that Liverpool were one of the clubs who were keen on signing him at the time.

“When I was 15 or 16 years old, I could not properly classify this pat on the back, especially since the very big clubs were already trying to sign me and offering millions.” Avdijaj was quoted as saying by Goal.com

“Not going crazy in such a phase is much harder than going crazy. Before signing for Schalke, I had offers from Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. No matter what game or tournament, scouts were always there to watch me.”
