Manchester City star David Silva has tried to pick out which of the two teams he believes are the favourites ahead of the Champions League final.
Jurgen Klopp had to do quite a lot of work to guide his side into the knock-out stages of the competition after a tough group stage which saw them battle with the likes of Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool were considered the slight underdogs by some in the round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich but a 3-1 win in Germany changed the picture as they went into the quarter-finals as one of the favourites to win the competition, emphatically defeating FC Porto.
Despite going behind by three goals in the first leg of the semi-final against FC Barcelona, the Reds returned to Anfield to stage a monumental comeback that saw them win 4-0 on the night and 4-3 on aggregate.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed their own comebacks in dramatic fashion against Manchester City and Ajax in the competition, but for City star David Silva, the Reds will be deemed the favourites ahead of next week’s showdown in Madrid.
“In theory, Liverpool are the favourites after the season they’ve had but anything can happen in the game,” Silva told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.
“We’ve already seen that this season the Champions League has been a bit crazy; last minute goals, comebacks. Anything can happen.”
