Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that his skipper is now in contention for a new role in the team after his display in the Champions League against FC Porto on Tuesday.
Klopp is getting his team mentally ready for the final stage of a demanding season which could end in major glory for the club if matters go the right way.
The Liverpool manager has tried his best to make the correct tactical decisions to avoid a repeat of the errors which his predecessor Brendan Rodgers made the last time the Reds were fighting for the Premier League title in 2014.
Following his game-sealing goal against Southampton last Friday, Jordan Henderson has reminded his boss of how important he could be for the team at this point of the campaign.
Klopp watched the midfielder play against FC Porto on Tuesday and the Liverpool manager insists there might be a new, more advanced role in the tram for Henderson.
“Players come in my office and ask for another position,” the Reds boss said, as per Liverpool Echo.
“We had that talk and I knew [Jordan Henderson] could play [in an advanced] position, but you could see he wanted it, he was energetic and lively and that’s my job to bring the players in the strongest position if possible and if not you play in another position.
“It’s not difficult that he’s now in contention for the 8 [role] though after that performance against Porto.”
