‘Liverpol have watched him’: Journalist reveals Reds’ interest in midfielder

Liverpool are seemingly interested in the services of young Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, as per a claim from respected British journalist James Pearce.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was reluctant to splash the cash in the transfer market this summer, especially after witnessing his team conquer Europe last season to extend the club’s illustrious history with its sixth title in the competition.

Even though the club has reduced its transfer spending, Liverpool remain an appealing destination for most of the biggest names and brightest talents across the globe and that presents an opportunity for Klopp to strengthen his squad in the near future.

The Liverpool boss has always been keen on giving young players a chance to shine and he is expected to carry on that philosophy for the rest of his reign at Anfield.

Klopp appears to be interested in the services of Villareal attacker Samuel Chukwueze and journalist James Pearce claims the club has been keeping an eye on the youngster.

Writing in a Q&A for The Athletic, he said: “Liverpol have watched him but that’s as far as it’s gone.

“If Chukwueze kicks on and has a great season in La Liga then who knows but certainly nothing lined up.

“Chukwueze’s reps are clearly keen for him to make the move to the Premier League at some stage.”
