Liverpool to offer £200,000-a-week to agree new contract with 27-year-old

According to the Mirror, Liverpool’s defensive rock Virgil van Dijk is set to receive a big-money pay raise as the Reds look to fend off interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Dutchman, who signed for Liverpool from Southampton for a world record fee of £75million, is set to be offered the same wages as fellow Reds’ star Mohamed Salah.

Van Dijk will have an offer of £200,000-a-week on the table as Liverpool try to extend his current deal that runs till 2023.

The Dutchman is currently on a £124,658 a week deal at Anfield and the new contract would see him gain 60% more income. The Dutchman also received a £6million personal profit when he joined the Reds in January last year.

Liverpool are taking no chances with van Dijk, especially with Real Madrid preparing a massive summer rebuilding of their squad with skipper Sergio Ramos reportedly on his way out after disagreements with Florentino Perez.
