Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has hit out at Jurgen Klopp for the decision over which shot-stopper to keep at the club this season.
Mignolet enjoyed being in the first-choice goalkeeping role under old boss Brendan Rodgers but Jurgen Klopp has not necessarily put as much faith in him between the sticks.
During the latter half of last season, the Belgium star was dropped for Loris Karius who went on to endure a horrible night in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
However, when it came down to whom Klopp got rid of in this summer transfer window, Mignolet was not the man to be handed the chance to play elsewhere and the goalkeeper has been left bemused by that decision.
“I find it bizarre that Karius was loaned while I also had options to be loaned,” said the Belgium international.
“But for some reason that was not possible.
“A goalkeeper who was preferred to me last year may leave on a loan basis – strange.”
Mignolet added that he is uncertain of his future at Anfield at this point.
“The transfer of Karius doesn’t change anything for me.” he said
“I have always been clear that I want to play.
“Being number two or number three makes little difference. Playing minutes is the most important thing.
“Nobody has said anything to me after the departure of Loris.
“So I don’t know what my future at Liverpool is.
“We will see what happens this week.”
