‘Ridiculous’: Fowler blames one man’s performance for what happened to Liverpool at Villa

Liverpool were blatantly robbed by match officials – not for the first time this season – on Saturday, during the first half of the clash against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Last week, the Reds were given a stern test of their character and mental toughness as they had to fight back from going behind in the first minute against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Less than a week later, Jurgen Klopp’s side had a new sort of battle to deal with against Aston Villa and once again, they found a way to pass the test.

But there was no doubt about the blatant robbery that happened in the first half of the game at Villa Park as a perfectly valid goal from Roberto Firminio was somehow ruled out by the VAR.

It was sheer injustice yet again for Liverpool, who nearly went on to drop points due to the goal which was wrongly chalked off.

Therefore, it was no surprise as ex-striker Robbie Fowler subtly slammed the performance of the video assistant referee Martin Atkinson, the same man who was in charge a few weeks ago as the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at Man United.
