Former Newcastle striker and current BBC pundit Alan Shearer has revealed what his prediction is for tomorrow’s Champions League final between Premier League foes, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.
Liverpool were almost knocked out of the competition during the group stage where they faced a very tough challenge against the likes of Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, who ended up finishing as winners of the group.
The Reds clashed with Bayern Munich in the round of 16 and despite a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first leg, a superb performance in Germany saw them win 3-1 on aggregate to oust the Bundesliga champions.
Jurgen Klopp’s men made easy work of beating Porto in the quarterfinal before staging a magnificent comeback to defeat Barcelona for a place in the final.
After finishing the season with 97 points in the Premier League, Alan Shearer is tipping the Reds to triumph on Saturday.
“On form, his side should beat Spurs,” Shearer said, as per the Metro
“They did the double over them in the League this season. And there are not too many Spurs players who would get in this Liverpool side.
“Certainly, in defence, I would swap only one — Toby Alderweireld or Jan Vertonghen to partner Virgil van Dijk. ‘I am still tipping Liverpool to edge it but you have to wonder if they will have lost a bit of momentum from having not played for three weeks.
“Yes, Spurs have had the same time off. But Liverpool finished the season so strongly, winning all of their last nine games to push City right to the wire.”
