Gary Likener wowed about the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold on Twitter on Thursday as the Reds made lightweight of beating Leicester City in a thumping 4-0 win.
After beating Flamengo in the Club World Cup final last Sunday, Liverpool knew there was more work to be done with the busy festive fixtures waiting for them in the Premier League.
After last season’s long title battle with Manchester City, the Red’s rivalry with the Blues has been intercepted by Leicester City, who were sitting in second place in the table ahead of Thursday’s affair.
The Foxes proved to be a little tough to break down early in the first half, but after the first two goals from Roberto Firmino and James Milner, the contest ended in a one-sided 4-0 result.
The scoring on the night was finished off by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who drilled home a fine goal late in the second half to clinch a comprehensive win over Brendan Rodgers’ men.
It was a magnificent performance from the Reds and Alexander-Arnold in particular, who was applauded by Gary Lineker after his show at the King Power stadium.
As for @trentaa98, well he’s just a joke. Fantastic footballer.
