BBC pundit and former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has reacted to the Reds’ big result against Tottenham on Saturday as they maintained their superb start to the new season.
The amount of spending from Liverpool over the summer meant there are several people tipping them to challenge for the Premier League title at the minimum this season.
Ahead of the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp’s side had managed to register four wins out of four to stay level on top of the league with Chelsea.
The brilliant run continued at Wembley stadium as a header from Georginio Wijnaldum and a tap-in from Roberto Firmino secured a 2-1 victory over Spurs away from home.
In his post-match analysis on BBC, Alan Shearer stated that the fact that the Reds were not even at their best on the day was something to worry about for the rest of the league.
“Liverpool definitely deserved it but the worrying thing is they weren’t even at their best. If they had been, they could have probably scored six or seven.” Shearer said.
“They should have had a field day because their pressing at times was excellent and they pressured Tottenham into making mistakes.”
