Gary Lineker is applauding Liverpool star for ‘brilliantly clever’ contribution against Bournemouth

Ex-Premier League star Gary Lineker had nothing but praise for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino after what the Brazilian did in the win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

With fellow title contenders Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur playing a day later, Liverpool were under some degree of pressure to win to avoid any more set-backs in the chase for the Premier League title.

Bournemouth have not been a great threat in their away games this season but they have been a thorn in the flesh of the big teams, having beaten Chelsea 4-0 in stunning fashion a couple of weeks ago.

Players like Roberto Firmino are needed in games like Saturday’s to help unlock the opposing defence regardless of whether he manages to get on the score sheet or not.

The Brazilian has not been as prolific as he was at this time last year but he has been a useful asset in the team nonetheless.

After setting up the goal for Mohamed Salah, Gary Lineker applauded the striker on Twitter.
