‘He has to go’: Klopp urged to sell Champions League hero in ruthless move

Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol has made sure to place his name back in the headlines after urging the club to get rid of the man who perhaps won the Reds the Champions League crown on Saturday.

Despite fears over another loss on the biggest stage of all for Jurgen Klopp, the Reds were victorious in the end of Saturday as they saw off the threat of Tottenham Hotspur to win 2-0 in Madrid.

Liverpool actually looked like the more vulnerable side during the second half of the game, until the manager chose to introduce Divock Origi in place of Roberto Firmino.

The Belgium striker appeared to be having a quiet game for a while but he made his mark once again as he scored the second goal of the match, which clinched it all for the Reds.

However, that is not enough for Steve Nicol, who wants to see the Reds actually get rid of Origi.

“For Liverpool’s sake, they should get rid of him, let him go, depends on how harsh or nicely you want to put it,” Nicol said, as per Daily Star

“He has to go for his sake but for Liverpool’s sake, they’ve got themselves into a place now where they need to think ‘how do we take the next step?’.

“And for me taking the next step is making the squad better and bigger.

“I don’t feel that Divock Origi makes our squad better.

“Whenever he has played, whenever he has come on, generally for Firmino to give him a break, the level has dropped too far in my opinion.
