Former footballer Danny Mills has made a claim about a member of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking weaponry ahead of the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur next month.
Klopp has not provided any details on which players he will allow to leave the club this summer, with one more big game – perhaps the biggest game of all – left in the campaign.
The Liverpool manager has of course been linked with moves which could see him ditch certain players to make room for potential new signings.
Daniel Sturridge, who has been limited to the role of a squad player all season, appears to be a candidate for the possible clear-out of fringe players.
The Englishman remains behind Firmino, Mane and Salah in the pecking order at the club and the Reds are yet to offer him a new contract.
For Danny Mills, the ex-Chelsea and Manchester City forward is clearly on the way out of Anfield.
“His days are numbered,” Mills said. “He has been an exceptional player for Liverpool, particularly when [Luis] Suarez was there.” Mills told Football Insider
“Realistically, can he get in the side going forward and replace Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane? No, he can’t. Liverpool need more competition for the front three, someone who can come in when they are unavailable or need a rest.
“Sturridge is no longer that player. He has lot that zip, probably due to all the injuries, and is not the player he was.”
