Former Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has admitted his surprise over the goal-scoring touch from Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah in Sunday’s showdown against Chelsea in the Premier League.
After Manchester City’s 3-1 win away at Crystal Palace, the Reds were back to being one point behind Pep Guardiola’s side in the epic battle for the Premier League title.
Chelsea proved to be tough to break down in the first 45 minutes of the game on Sunday and at half time, there were a few worries over whether Liverpool could get the victory required to move back to the top of the Premier League table.
But a very big goal from Sadio Mane after the second half, saw Liverpool take the lead and from then on, the game was only going in one direction.
Mohamed Salah then followed up with a simply sublime long-range strike to double the home side’s lead and after that stunning goal, Hasselbaink admitted that he had never seen the Egyptian do something like that before.
“I did not expect that he was going to do that because I’ve never seen him hit a ball like that.” the former Chelsea striker said, on beIN SPORTS
“For him to do that and go in the top corner, well done. What a goal.”
