Journalist Dan Morgan wowed about the quality and potential boasted by Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. Morgan spoke high of the Reds’ fullback in an appearance he recently made on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast as he shared his thoughts on various Liverpool-related topics.
Alexander-Arnold made his first-team breakthrough for the Reds during the 2017/18 season, as he ended up featuring in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
The Englishman’s career has continued to flourish ever since and after winning the Champions League last year, he added another trophy to his growing list of accomplishments by winning the Premier League.
That has seen Alexander-Arnold attract plaudits from journalist Dan Morgan, who actually believes the Liverpool youngster in now in a similar category to French football’s golden boy, Kylian Mbappe.
He said: “It’s so under the radar just how much of an absolute megastar he is already. He’s sort of in the bracket of [Kylian] Mbappe when you put him in terms of age and accomplishments and competence. It’s unbelievable that it’s just sort of assumed that he’s Liverpool’s right-back and yeah he’s very good. It’s incredible just how underrated he is.”
Liverpool have not always enjoyed the services of great right-backs over the years but Alexander-Arnold’s ability to defend well, assist efficiently like a midfielder and also be a specialist from free-kicks should certainly place him up there with the best at the moment.
