Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has pinpointed a position that Jurgen Klopp needs to target in the summer.
The former Reds defender has urged the Liverpool boss to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho who left the club in January last year.
Liverpool failed to bring in a proper replacement for the Brazilian star who scored 41 goals in his 5-year stay at Anfield.
The Reds also failed in their attempt to bring in Lyon’s star midfielder Nabil Fekir in the summer and have therefore created a void in attacking midfield.
Carragher, when asked about whether Liverpool had a problem, said:
“Yes, in terms of the make-up of the midfield three but it isn’t just a problem now, I think that was even a problem if you go back to the end of last season when Liverpool were doing so well in the Champions League.”
The Reds signed Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer who are both capable of doing a job behind Firmino but the duo have failed to get regular game time in order to make any sort of impact in that number 10 role.
Carragher stated the need for a creative midfielder even if Liverpool manage to win the league title this season.
The Reds have been linked with moves for Isco and Bruno Fernandes in the past week but nothing is concrete yet.
