Liverpool seem to have wasted no time in going for their targets in the transfer market, only days after the win over Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the UEFA Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp was a lavish spender during last summer as the likes of Alisson and Fabinho were signed for considerably high amounts, only months after the arrival of Virgil van Dijk.
The Liverpool manager was alerted about what life could be in the event of a long-term injury to any of his star strikers as Firmino and Salah sat out some key games towards the end of last season.
That is essentially why a move for Nicolas Pepe sounds reasonable, especially following the club’s decision to get rid of Daniel Sturridge to clear up space in the squad.
Pepe has been a man on the radar of England’s biggest clubs after scoring 22 goals and providing a further 11 assists for Lille over the course of the 2018/19 season in France.
If a claim by journalist Duncan Castles is anything to go by, the Reds have made an enquiry to sign the 24-year-old star this summer.
“They have made an enquiry with Lille’s forward Nicolas Pepe.” Castles said, speaking on the Transfer Window podcast
“As yet, I’m told, there’s not an offer into Lille for the player. But that to me is a much better addition to Liverpool than De Ligt at present.”
