Evening Standard journalist David Lynch has revealed that Liverpool remain in a very good position to secure the services of Timo Werner with the player still interested in an Anfield switch.
Having fought so hard to win a Premier League title which they have failed to clinch in decades, the Reds are now left in a nervy wait over when action could resume after the season was suspended due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
In the meantime, Liverpool will have an opportunity to pick out and pursue their transfer targets and Timo Werner, who is valued at £50m (Daily Mail) by RB Leipzig, remains a player who is still on the Reds’ radar.
In an exclusive interview with Anfield Watch, Evening Standard journalist David Lynch has revealed that Liverpool are still in the hunt for the striker and he has added that Werner is ‘very keen’ on a move to Anfield.
“The pause in football has seemed to put the brakes on this one but I still expect Liverpool to move for Timo Werner whenever there is more certainty over the season restarting/transfer market dates. The player is very, very keen to move to Anfield.” he said in the interview with Anfield Watch
After the end to the 2018/19 season which saw the Reds look desperate for options in attack due to the absences of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Jurgen Klopp definitely has a reason to chase another talented forward.
