Former Premier League footballer Kevin Kilbane has given his take on whether the Reds should make a move to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The young French striker has become one of the most coveted players in the world after leading France to the World Cup title last summer at such a tender age.
Mbappe has been tipped to take over from the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world within a few years time.
The youngster’s enormous reputation has certainly raised his value and any club who chooses to pursue him this summer is expected to pay an astronomical sum of money to have any chance of signing him.
Liverpool have been thrown into the bracket of clubs who are seemingly interested in making a move for Mbappe, but former footballer Kilbane has stated that a deal to sign the expensive 20-year-old would not be reasonable.
Kilbane said on Off The Ball: “I don’t think they will go for him. The only reason why, you get Kylian Mbappe, you probably have to give him 300 grand a week, which is probably around double the wages Van Dijk is on.
“Why are Liveprool going to upset the club and bring a player in on almost double of what the rest of the players are on? I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
