Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has responded publicly after the dispute between Liverpool stars James Milner and Mohamed Salah during the win over Cardiff City last Sunday.
The Reds were tipped to face a stern test from the Bluebirds, who were fighting for their lives in the Premier League with the potential of relegation gradually looking like it will become a reality.
Liverpool had a fairly nervous first half but the team returned by taking the lead early in the second half of the affair.
With very little time left on the clock, Mohamed Salah was fouled in the box, resulting in an important penalty kick being awarded to the away side.
Since Salah has been chasing the golden boot award, the Egyptian star stepped up and showed his interest in taking the spot kick himself.
However, James Milner – who is the first choice penalty kick taker – refused to hand Salah the ball, resulting in a visible dispute between the duo about who deserved to take the spot kick.
The incident was the subject of much debate from the fans, but after Milner dispatched the penalty, Klopp responded by praising the former Manchester City star.
“He’s like a machine in these moments,” Klopp said, as per the Mirror
“He trains them and he is not the only one. Mo is getting better and better and better.
“Milly is experienced. He has had important penalty shoot-outs in his life. He know it’s all about how you keep your body in the right position and the right technique and then done.
“He has also missed a penalty in a pretty important game if I’m right but he’s like a machine. He switches off all emotions and puts the ball in the net.
“That’s the way to do it.”
