Jurgen Klopp may have guided his side to European glory last season but the Liverpool boss is choosing not to rest on his laurels before next term.
Sporting Lisbon star, Bruno Fernandes, a winner of the Nations League finals with Portugal last week, has been on the radar of the Reds after having a successful year.
The 24-year-old, who registered 29 goals and 17 assists, is a player with the potential to thrive at Anfield as a part of Klopp’s midfield trio.
Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha are reporting that Liverpool are the first club to make a formal bid to sign Fernandes after submitting an offer of €45m (£40m).
The midfielder admitted a few weeks ago that he ‘likes’ Liverpool, in a blog post that he wrote (Record), as he analyzed the Reds and Premier League champions Manchester City’s respective styles of play.
“I like Liverpool a lot more, it’s a more direct (style of play), more offensive, maybe less organized, but more intense football, when you do not have the ball possession, you are more intense.” he said.
Last season’s newly promoted side, Wolves, proved that Portuguese imports can be shrewd signings indeed.
