Sky Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool are in ‘advanced talks’ over a move to sign Red Bull Salzburg winger Takumi Minamino in January.
After winning the UEFA Champions League in June, courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Jurgen Klopp was understandably hesitant to spend too much in the summer transfer window.
The Liverpool boss has taken his side to the next level this season as they continue to lead the way in the Premier League but Klopp will not be resting on his laurels this time.
The Reds manager, who is known to be an admirer of Takumi Minamino, has made a swift approach to sign the winger.
After watching him impress against the Reds twice in the Champions League this term, Klopp has moved quick to secure the acquisition of the Salzburg star.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool are speaking to Minamino’s agents over a deal to sign him next month.
Liverpool are in advanced talks for Takumi Minamino from Salzburg. They’re ready to pay the release clause thanks to great relationship with the Austrian club. Talks ongoing with Minamino and his agents for a 5-years contract. He also had bids from Ligue1 and BundesLiga. 🇯🇵 #LFC

The winger’s arrival will add more flair to the Liverpool squad, placing the Reds in a very strong position to end their title drought this year.
