Neville praises Liverpool star for ‘absolutely world class’ finishing

Former Manchester United and Everton star Phil Neville has given some praise to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah for what he has done since moving back to the Premier League almost two years ago.

The 26-year-old got his first taste of Premier League football as a Chelsea player back in 2014 but he never managed to convince Jose Mourinho to keep him at Stamford Bridge at the time.

Salah went on to shine in Italy, particularly in the colours of AS Roma, who reluctantly sold him to Liverpool back in the summer of 2017.

The Egypt international was in absolutely brilliant form last season as he helped the Reds go all the way to the final of the Champions League, where they succumbed to a 3-1 loss to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Salah has been criticized by some this season for not being at his best but he has remained in the race for the golden boot award in the league and based on that, Phil Neville has heaped praise on the forward.

“Well Mo Salah has now had two unbelievable seasons and I said at the start of the season I thought he’d find it difficult to replicate what he did last year and that has proven to be the case,” said Neville on the Premier League’s official Twitter account.

“But I think what he has done this year is provided a lot of assists, he’s probably been the most, in terms of attention from defenders, been doubled up on, sometimes three defenders around him.

“Which is probably the reason why Mane has scored more goals this year as it has freed up other players in the team, but with Salah that ability to drift in from the right hand side, you know he’s going to do it if he can and you can’t do anything about it.

“He has played as a centre-forward this season a lot of the time, particularly away from home, so he is developing all the time as a player, his finishing is absolutely world class and Liverpool are lucky to have him.”
