‘I’m Liverpool, who beat you’: Messi reveals family member has taunted him about Reds

FC Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has opened up about how his son has refused to cut him some slack after the collapse from the Spanish club which happened in the semi-final of the Champions League last season.

After being drawn against the La Liga champions, Liverpool knew they were facing perhaps their biggest test in the competition up until that point of the season.

Messi had made a promise to the fans of Barcelona earlier in the campaign that he would be doing everything to help the Spanish side bring back the European crown to Catalonia.

Even though Barcelona were dominated by Liverpool for much of the first leg, it was the Camp Nou side who came out on top with a commanding 3-0 lead which saw Messi score a double.

However, a monumental comeback from the Reds at Anfield saw them thrash Barca 4-0 to somehow book a place in the final of the Champions League, where they faced Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Messi has revealed his son still jokes about how Barcelona were beaten against all the odds.

“We played at home, and last time, we kicked it about, he would tell me, ‘I’m Liverpool , who beat you. You are Barça, and I’m Liverpool.’ ” Messi said, as per the Liverpool Echo
