Jan Molby previews reaction when Liverpool star leaves the club

Former Liverpool star Jan Molby has spoken about the void which will be left by Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson when he says goodbye to the club.

The England international was signed from Sunderland in 2011 after impressing the Reds during his time with the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.

During Liverpool’s title challenge in the 2013/14 season, Henderson showed many signs of his potential in midfield as the side, which was managed by Brendan Rodgers at the time, narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title.

After the departure of Steven Gerrard, Henderson has taken over as the club’s skipper and even though the midfielder has his critics, there is no doubt about the level of leadership and energy he brings to the team when needed.

Half a month ago, the 29-year-old did something that no Liverpool captain had done in 14 years as he lifted the Champions League trophy following a superb campaign in Europe for the Reds.

Therefore, Jan Molby believes Henderson means a lot to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“It’s often overlooked how important these people are,” the Dane told the official Liverpool website.

“But at Liverpool Football Club we’re very proud of our history and if you go through all of the great teams, we can all name the great players – but [also] the ones who were there every week, produced every week that, through history, become great players. Once Jordan is gone, people will look at the void that he leaves and think, ‘Oh wow’.”
