Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has called for Jurgen Klopp to not consider adding a new signing to his squad in January because a new arrival could disrupt the team’s chemistry and momentum.
After last season’s near success in the Champions League, Liverpool were being tipped to push on for major honours this year.
The Reds are now favourites for the Premier League title after a fantastic start which has seen them fail to lose a game so far this season.
With the January transfer window set to be opened though, some have suggested that it would be a great opportunity for Klopp to bolster his squad even further.
The Liverpool boss has already hinted that it is unlikely that he will go shopping in the transfer market next month.
And for Tim Sherwood, the Reds may want to put any signings on hold and carry on with their season because a new signing in January could actually harm the team’s title hopes.
“It’s really dangerous for people to think they need to add extra players. You can change the whole dynamic of your dressing room by doing that. They are in this position and I wouldn’t sign another player.” said Sherwood
“Newcastle did it with Faustino Asprilla [in 1996] and it was a disaster. We know what a good player he was, he almost changed the dynamics of how they played, but it didn’t work out. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
“At the moment, I think the squad is strong enough, if they cope with injuries, to compete until the end.”
