‘One of them was Liverpool’: Agent confirms contact with Reds over signing £35m ace

According to the player’s own agent, Liverpool were actually offered the chance to secure the signature of Marcos Llorente before he ended up joining Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer.

Even though his side are the current champions of Europe, Jurgen Klopp has frequently been linked with various transfer targets as fans hope the Reds are preparing themselves for another campaign of winning more silverware.

Based on a revelation by the agent of Marcos Llorente, Liverpool were indeed one of the clubs who made an approach over the possibility of signing the midfielder.

The 24-year-old has decided to leave Real Madrid to join their local rivals Atletico Madrid in a £35m deal, and it now looks as though there was a chance of him actually moving to Anfield instead.

“I contacted several clubs to let them know what happened, the conversation that Zidane and Marcos had.” he told Cadena SER

“One of them was Liverpool, but Marcos’ position was covered and it wasn’t a priority.

“But Atletico are those who perhaps took the strongest step and convinced us. I think we’re right. I hope it’s like that, I hope Marcos does very well.”

The Reds are set to kick-off their pre-season tour as Klopp looks to maintain his team in the best possible shape for another title tilt next term.
