Opinion: Reds’ defence in Europe could improve with Brazilian addition

Liverpool now have, to the surprise of some, the best defence in the Premier League in this season. But, for whatever reason, the same cannot be said about the team in the Champions League.

So far, the Merseyside outfit have only conceded 10 goals in 22 matches, seven goals less than Manchester City.

Unfortunately for Klopp though, his team has not been as impregnable as they are in the Premier League when involved in European fixtures this campaign.

His side has conceded seven times in six Champions League outings this season, having barely made it out of their tough group.

Liverpool do not boast the best defence in Europe just yet, but that could change if Jurgen Klopp manages to secure the services of Eder Militao.

The Liverpool boss is believed to have been tracking the defender for several months now and according to O Jogo, the Brazilian, who can play as a centre-back, right-back, and defensive midfielder, could cost as much as £68 million.

Joe Gomez has proven to be a key man in the side when fit while the likes of Lovren and Matip remain decent back-ups.

But the Reds’ aspirations to have a completely improved defence could be helped with the addition of a player like Militao.
