Rio Ferdinand speaks on whether he wants Liverpool to win the title

Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has spoken on the competitive title race between Manchester City and Liverpool as matters head towards the finish line.

The Reds are currently ahead of Manchester City at the top of the able even though they have played one game more than Pep Guardiola’s men – the 2-1 over Fulham on Sunday.

If Liverpool were to go all the way and win the crown this season, it would end decades of having to wait to lift the league title and some fans of rival clubs seem to be not ready to witness that event.

Rio Ferdinand is clearly one of those people who is rather reluctant to see Jurgen Klopp’s men become champions and the ex-England international has spoken about whom he prefers to win the title this season between the two top teams.

The United hero insists that Manchester City are the ‘lesser of the two evils’.

“This is the worst possible case, scenario for someone that likes Man United, supports Man United and has played for Man United, and I’m a pundit that’s got to speak about it publicly and squirm and what not,” Ferdinand told Mirror Sport.

“So the better of the two evils is Manchester City winning the league as I’ve seen it, I’ve been part of it.

“I’ve seen it as a player and a football fan so I’ve been able to deal with it emotionally.”
