Former Premier League footballer and current BBC pundit Alan Shearer has spoken about the admiration he has for what the Reds have done in the title race so far this season.
After only managing to qualify for the Champions League last season, this year was meant to be the time for Liverpool to have another go at winning the Premier League title.
Even though that has been the ambition of most supporters of the club for years, the fact that Manchester City have become a sudden dominant force in English football has meant it is even harder to be crowned champions in England.
But somehow, the Reds have pushed Pep Guardiola’s side all the way, and with only three games left in the league season, the title race is yet to be decided.
Sunday’s win over Cardiff City meant Liverpool have won yet another game in a long winning streak to keep up with Man City and Alan Shearer has been full of praise about the way Klopp’s men have battled for the title.
“Jurgen Klopp’s side were not spectacular at Cardiff but they again responded to City’s win over Tottenham on Saturday and got the job done,” said Shearer for The Sun.
“They never looked in danger, even at 0-0 with 35 minutes left. They kept going and you just felt that they would get the breakthrough in the end.
“The standard of football from both Liverpool and City has just been incredible this season.
“They both deserve huge credit for the staggering amount of good football they are serving up in this exhilarating title race.”
