‘The quickest I’ve seen’ – Coach raves about Liverpool summer signing

Liverpool under-23 goalkeeping coach Mark Morris has expressed his joy over the impact which summer signing Alisson has made so far in his career in the Premier League.

For several seasons, the Reds struggled in goal and conceded very often due to the absence of a proper replacement for Pepe Reina.

Indeed, that is exactly what cost Liverpool in the final of the UEFA Champions League last season as a pair of blunders from Karius saw the club lose against Real Madrid.

Following that loss, the Reds moved very quickly in the transfer market during last summer to sign Alisson, a goalkeeper who played against Liverpool in their run to the Champions League final last term.

Ever since his move to Anfield, the Brazilian star has been in superb form, helping Liverpool maintain a serious challenge for the Premier League title this year.

That has seen him win some rave reviews from Mark Morris.

“He’s the quickest I’ve seen. You strike a ball and as you strike the ball, you look up and you see the ‘keeper going.” he told the club’s official website

“I was striking the ball, looking up and he was already there. He’s remarkably quick.

“In terms of goalkeeping, he doesn’t take chances. If it needs to go, in terms of his handling, he doesn’t try to catch something that he’s struggling with – it goes. His decision-making is very, very good. He has a footballing brain and he’s very, very quick.”
