Liverpool have been handed a boost in the race for the Premier League title with the news that Manchester City will be without their top scorer for their next fixture in the competition.
Pep Guardiola’s side have fought back in the title race and are currently just two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand.
That game in hand for City will take place on Wednesday but the champions will not be able to call upon star striker Sergio Aguero.
The Argentina international has once again been the driving force behind Manchester City’s pursuit of the Premier League title and he is currently in the lead over other forwards in the race for the Premier League’s golden boot award.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed ahead of his side’s home clash with Cardiff City that Aguero will not be available, in what will be better news for Liverpool who are hoping to see City drop points on Wednesday.
“He didn’t train the last two days, tomorrow he is not able [to play],” said Guardiola, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Hopefully next Saturday or Tuesday but we will see the evolution in the next few days.”
