Liverpool humbled Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday. A brace from Sadio Mane and a Virgil van Dijk header gave the Reds a deserved 3-1 win and are now up against Porto in the quarterfinals.
The win irked Bayern boss Nico Kovac who took a dig at Liverpool’s transfer policy in the aftermath of the game and blamed the Reds’ higher transfer spend for his side’s defeat at the Allianz Arena.
Kovac was quoted saying “Money doesn’t always win, but Jurgen Klopp spent €500million [£425m] in the last four years. Even we as the Bundesliga forerunners did not do that. It’s just an advantage [for them].”
His comments did not go well with the Liverpool fans as expected and they went after the Bayern boss with full force on social media. Here’s how some Reds fans and football fans, in general, reacted after the news about his comments broke out:
I despise Kovac for saying this..how the hell can he say this when his first-choice striker and centreback was bought from a Klopp-winning team as part of money bullying!!!
Shut up and get sacked asap.. https://t.co/dXpOgGTuIp— Mizgan (@mizgans) March 16, 2019
A team with a monopoly on Bundesliga talent claiming they can't keep up financially ??

This guy is always blaming external factors that have nothing to do with what a crappy coach he is…

? | Remember the days Bayern would steal all of Klopp’s best players at Dortmund.
Now they are the ones complaining about money. ?

As a City fan, I would normally try and side with anyone who opposes Liverpool, but this is just laughable. They've bullied their way to dominance in Germany by signing the best players on free transfers ffs
